Clear Vision

Genève, Suisse · 2021

Located on the top floor of Piguet Galland’s contemporary building in Geneva, this ophthalmology practice occupies an entire 400 m² floorplate, defined by a raised technical floor, a modular ceiling and two large fully glazed façades extending from floor to ceiling.

The layout is organised around a central structural concrete core, which accommodates the spaces that require an absence of natural light, including sanitary facilities and examination rooms. Around the perimeter, consultation rooms and waiting areas are arranged along the glazed façades in order to make full use of daylight and outward views.

At the heart of the project, a generous reception area is structured by two desks crafted in Silk Georgette natural stone. This materiality continues across the floor and walls through ceramic surfaces with a Silk Georgette appearance, creating a refined sense of visual continuity. Timber flooring in the consultation rooms and waiting areas, together with oak-clad partitions, brings warmth and softness to the overall atmosphere.

Open to the façades, the glazed waiting areas allow natural light to penetrate deep into the circulation spaces. They also punctuate the length of the corridors, creating moments of openness and framed perspectives across the floorplate.

A series of vertical screens structures the spaces: at times preserving privacy while allowing light to filter through, at others forming a backdrop to the reception desks. Their vertical rhythm emphasises the ceiling height and reinforces the elegance of the volumes.

The deliberately warm and refined material palette combines natural stone, ceramic, timber and parquet flooring. Carefully selected lighting and brass-finished details, particularly the handles, complete the interior with a subtle contemporary sophistication.

The project therefore creates an environment that is luminous, calming and sophisticated, where medical functionality and architectural quality come together within a warm and timeless atmosphere.
