VILLA AU LAC
Vésenaz, Suisse · 2021
Set on an exceptional 7,000 m² lakeside plot in Vésenaz, this grand residence is conceived as a true balcony overlooking the Lake Geneva landscape. Extending over nearly 70 metres in length, its architecture follows the natural slope of the hillside, establishing a constant dialogue between the house, the garden and the lake, further extended by a private jetty. A vast programme shapes this villa of approximately 2,700 m².
The villa is arranged over two main levels, complemented by a fully fitted lower ground floor. At the rear, a longitudinal patio runs along the full length of the house. Conceived as a fissure carved into the slope, it brings natural light and a sense of openness to all areas of the project, including the lower levels.
Arrival takes place from the upper level, via a generous landscaped forecourt punctuated by trees, an entrance canopy and a lodge dedicated to the caretaker. From the entrance hall, the central axis of the house is revealed in a spectacular through-view framing the lake directly. A majestic circular staircase, accompanied by a lift and a spacious entrance dressing room, connects the different levels.
The upper ground floor accommodates a large central living room with bar, extended by a more intimate study and TV lounge. The private wing comprises a principal suite together with three additional bedrooms, each with its own dressing room and bathroom. All rooms open onto large terraces facing the lake, offering expansive views over the landscape, the Geneva basin and the changing light throughout the day.
On the lower ground floor, the reception spaces unfold around a double living room and a dining room, both opening generously to the outdoors. A large family kitchen, complemented by a back kitchen and a cold room, supports these living spaces. Three further suites, each with a dressing room and bathroom, also enjoy direct access to the garden.
Extending from the interior spaces, a vast covered terrace at ground level forms a succession of outdoor lounges protected from sun and weather. A barbecue, fire pit and relaxation areas are arranged facing the lake, while a 14-metre infinity pool underlines the horizontal expression of the façade and intensifies the relationship with the water.
At the rear of the villa, beneath the entrance court, the lower ground floor houses an underground garage for eight vehicles, as well as a complete wellness area including an indoor pool, hammam, sauna, jacuzzi and fitness room. Beneath the main body of the house are a wine cellar, cinema room, laundry room and all technical spaces.
Further down, on the lake’s edge, a pool house and its terrace sit in the shade of the trees, in a more intimate atmosphere directly connected to the garden and the water.
The architectural expression is based on a palette of noble and timeless materials. The villa’s base is clad in light natural stone, paired with large full-height glazed openings framed in a bronze finish. On the upper level, the architectural language becomes more contemporary: large natural stone panels are combined with generous bronze-finished metal overhangs, integrating adjustable louvres to filter the light.
Fully glazed balustrades dissolve the boundaries and reinforce the sensation of being suspended above the landscape, like the deck of a vessel opening onto the lake.
A vast planted garden finally envelops the entire property, anchoring the villa within a lush setting where architecture, light and horizon meet.
